Becky Beamish studied medicine at Imperial College, London and undertook an inter-calculated BSc during her time at Imperial, which she graduated with honours.
For foundation and core surgery, she trained in the Oxford and London Deaneries respectively. She is currently in her last year of orthopaedic training in the Wessex Deanery. Becky is undertaking a Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship at Southampton Children’s Hospital in her last year of registrar training.
During her registrar training she completed an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering at Cardiff University, which she graduated with distinction. Within this MSc she investigated a novel liposome composition designed to promote cement osseointegration in addition to carrying antibiotics. The results of this research have been presented internationally at the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty Congress. Becky was a Trainee Principal Investigator for the DRAFFT 2 trial and recruited a number of patients. She is keen to continue her research interests as she progresses with her career.
