Jonathon Young was appointed at UHCW in July 2012 having completed his specialist registrar training as part of the Warwick programme and fellowships in Trauma/Limb Reconstruction and Foot and Ankle surgery.
It was at this time that UHCW made the transition to become a Major Trauma Centre (MTC). He became Trauma Lead within the Trauma & Orthopaedic department in July 2013 and concomitantly the Major Trauma Governance lead for the trust in 2014. He has developed a subspecialty interest in all foot and ankle trauma and open fractures.
Academically he has been nationally recognised for his work as a Principal Investigator for multiple Randomised Control Trials and has been co-applicant on two successful grant applications. He is an Honorary Professor at Warwick University. In June 2015 Jonathan was appointed as Clinical Research Lead for the West Midlands for the Injuries and Emergencies Portfolio studies, which oversees pre-hospital, emergency medicine and trauma portfolio studies within the West Midlands.
