John Keating was trained in Dublin, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Vancouver and appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in 1994 to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
His main clinical interests are in the management of trauma and in particular in complex lower limb injuries including pelvic and acetabular surgery and knee injuries. He is involved in clinical and basic research related to trauma. In addition to clinical and research work, he is currently a section editor for the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma and the Deputy International Editor of Trauma for the American Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He is an honorary professor at Edinburgh University.
