Bio

Kenan Kursumovic

Kenan Kursumovic is a Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon at the Royal Stoke University Hospital with a subspecialty interest in pelvic and acetabular trauma surgery and lower limb arthroplasty.

He is the OTS executive committee member for Policy and OTS representative on the BOA Trauma committee.

Originally from Sarajevo (Bosnia) he studied medicine (MBBS) at St. George’s Medical School in London and completed his higher surgical training in the East of England Deanery (rotating through Cambridge, Peterborough and Bury St. Edmunds). He undertook an out of programme year for training as Senior Registrar (ST8) at the Royal London Hospital, before embarking on fellowships in North Bristol, Nottingham and Melbourne (Australia), with a focus on complex limb and pelvic & acetabular trauma and lower limb arthroplasty. In addition, he has been a visiting fellow in centres of excellence in the United States, Canada and Germany.

He also holds BA and MA degrees from Cambridge University, where he read Economics.

He has a passion for teaching and training and has delivered structured MSK teaching programmes for medical students and is faculty on FRCS exam preparation courses.

In his free time, he enjoys the great outdoors and skiing with his family and friends.

The Orthopaedic Trauma Society is the official body representing trauma orthopaedics in the UK, as recognised by the British Orthopaedic Association, NICE, NHS England, and the International Orthopaedic Trauma Association.

It has represented the UK, as part of the guest nation status, for the North American Orthopaedic Trauma Association in 2017, and the German Congress of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in 2018. It acts as a stakeholder for NICE clinical guidance and quality standards, and its members represent trauma and orthopaedics on numerous national and international panels. This produces standards and consensus, directs research initiatives and leads on education and revalidation.
